The Nova Scotia Highlanders Pipes and Drums is a Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve military pipe band based in Truro, Nova Scotia.
The Nova Scotia Highlanders Pipes and Drums is an official Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve military pipe band based in Truro, Nova Scotia. Its members are Primary Reservists representing The Nova Scotia Highlanders infantry regiment within the Canadian Army’s 5th Canadian Division.
The band combines military service with Scottish piping and drumming traditions and competes in Grade 3 through the Atlantic Provinces Pipe Band Association (ACPBA).
Activities
The band hosts a Robbie Burns Dinner and Ceilidh in Truro, bringing together traditional music, Highland dancing, poetry, whisky, and a three-course meal. Its activities also include international commemorations honouring fallen soldiers, with visits to Mons, Belgium, and Juno Beach, and performances with the massed pipes and drums at the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
