About the band
Andes Highlanders Pipe Band (AHPB) brings together Scottish bagpipes, percussion and Highland dancing in Santiago, Chile.
History
ChileCelta’s profile, published on January 28, 2026, celebrates 25 years of uninterrupted activity. It traces the band’s origins to the friendship of Christian Reynals and Ralph Bennett, whose shared enthusiasm for Scottish culture led them to form a band and preserve its traditions in Chile.
ChileCelta describes Andes Highlanders as the first Scottish pipe band founded in Chile, while noting that piping lessons already existed at Eagle School in Antofagasta. Founding members continue to participate alongside newer musicians.
Activities and rehearsals
The profile records two South American pipe band gatherings, performances with orchestras and international artists, and the band’s role with the 14th Fire Company (Bomba Inglesa). It lists rehearsals at the Prince of Wales Country Club and the 14th Fire Company’s station, and identifies the tartan as Clan Cochrane.
