Sir Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish MBE (born 4 March 1951) is a Scottish former football player and manager. He is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time as well as one of Liverpool’s and Britain’s finest-ever players

During his career, he made 338 appearances for Celtic and 515 for Liverpool, playing as a forward, and earned a record 102 caps for the Scotland national team, scoring 30 goals, also a joint record.

International career

Tommy Docherty gave Dalglish his debut for the Scottish national side as a substitute in the 1–0 Euro 1972 qualifier victory over Belgium on 10 November 1971 at Pittodrie, in a match against Belgium. The game ended in a 3-0 victory for Scotland. Dalglish went on to have a highly successful international career, earning 102 caps and scoring 30 goals for the Scottish national team.

Kenny Dalglish is widely regarded as one of the greatest Scottish footballers of all time. His contributions to the sport extended beyond his playing career; he also had success as a manager, most notably with Liverpool FC, where he won numerous domestic and international honors.

Dalglish scored his first goal for Scotland a year later on 15 November 1972 in the 2–0 World Cup qualifier win over Denmark at Hampden Park. Scotland would go on to qualify for the final tournament and he was part of Scotland’s 1974 World Cup squad in West Germany. He started in all three games as Scotland were eliminated during the group stages despite not losing any of their three games
